Biography:
Mackenna Tamanaha is a B.S. candidate in Cell and Molecular Biology at Tulane University. Her involvement in the Newcomb Scholars Program cultivated a commitment to equity-focused research. Hands-on experience as a certified Advanced EMT, including over 700 volunteer hours with Tulane EMS and current work with West Jefferson EMS, has grounded her academic interests in emergency medicine and emergency operations. This convergence of lived experience, clinical practice, and scholarly training motivates her research on geographic disparities in emergency healthcare access in Hawaii.
