Arboviruses

Arboviruses

Arboviruses are viruses transmitted by arthropod vectors such as mosquitoes and ticks. Common arboviral diseases include dengue, chikungunya, Zika, yellow fever, and West Nile fever. Climate change, urbanization, and global travel have expanded the geographic range of vectors. Arboviruses cause outbreaks with significant public health impact, including fever, neurological complications, and congenital disorders. Control strategies focus on vector surveillance, vector control, public education, and early detection. Research on vaccines and antiviral treatments continues. Preventing arboviral diseases requires integrated public health approaches and international collaboration.
