Arthritis

Arthritis

Arthritis is a broad term used to describe inflammation of one or more joints, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced mobility. It affects people of all ages but is more common in older adults. The two most common types are osteoarthritis, caused by wear and tear of joint cartilage, and rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks joint tissues. Other forms include gout and psoriatic arthritis. Symptoms may worsen with age, physical activity, or weather changes, significantly impacting daily life and independence. While there is no cure for most types of arthritis, early diagnosis and proper management can help control symptoms. Treatment options include medications, physical therapy, lifestyle modifications, weight management, and in severe cases, surgery. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and joint protection strategies can improve joint function and overall quality of life.
