Audiology

Audiology

Audiology is a specialized branch of healthcare that focuses on the study, diagnosis, and management of hearing and balance disorders. Audiologists are trained professionals who assess hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, and balance problems across all age groups, from newborns to older adults. Common conditions addressed in audiology include age-related hearing loss, noise-induced hearing damage, ear infections, and inner ear disorders. Audiologists use advanced diagnostic tools such as audiometry, tympanometry, and electrophysiological tests to evaluate auditory function. Treatment and management may involve hearing aids, cochlear implants, assistive listening devices, auditory rehabilitation, and counseling. Audiology also plays a vital role in early hearing screening programs, especially for infants and children, to support speech and language development. By improving communication abilities and balance function, audiology significantly enhances quality of life and social well-being.
