Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune Disorders are conditions in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own healthy cells, tissues, or organs, believing them to be foreign. This abnormal immune response leads to inflammation, tissue damage, and impaired organ function. There are many types of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and psoriasis. Symptoms vary widely depending on the affected organs but often include fatigue, pain, swelling, skin rashes, and fever. The exact causes are not fully understood; however, genetic predisposition, hormonal factors, and environmental triggers such as infections may contribute. While most autoimmune disorders have no cure, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help manage symptoms and reduce disease progression. Therapies often focus on suppressing immune activity, reducing inflammation, and maintaining quality of life through medications and lifestyle modifications.
