Community resilience refers to the ability of communities to prepare for, respond to, adapt to, and recover from adverse events such as natural disasters, pandemics, economic crises, and social disruptions. It is built through strong social networks, effective communication, access to resources, and trust in institutions. Public health plays a key role in strengthening community resilience by promoting preparedness planning, emergency response capacity, mental health support, and community engagement. Resilient communities are better equipped to protect vulnerable populations and maintain essential services during crises. Community resilience also involves addressing social determinants of health, reducing inequalities, and fostering local leadership. Enhancing resilience improves long-term health outcomes, reduces disaster-related impacts, and supports sustainable development.
