Complementary and Alternative Medicine
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) includes health practices and therapies that fall outside conventional medical care and are often used alongside standard treatments. These may include acupuncture, yoga, meditation, herbal medicine, chiropractic care, and traditional healing practices. CAM is commonly used for pain management, stress reduction, chronic disease support, and overall wellness. Public health interest in CAM focuses on safety, effectiveness, regulation, and evidence-based integration into healthcare systems. While some therapies show potential benefits, others require further scientific validation. Educating patients about appropriate use and possible interactions with conventional treatments is essential. Responsible integration of CAM can support holistic health approaches and patient-centered care.
