Ecotourism is a form of sustainable tourism that focuses on responsible travel to natural areas while conserving the environment and supporting local communities. It promotes environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and cultural respect, while minimizing ecological impact. Ecotourism encourages activities such as wildlife observation, nature education, and community-based tourism that generate economic benefits for local populations. From a public health and environmental perspective, ecotourism supports ecosystem protection, reduces environmental degradation, and promotes mental and physical well-being through nature-based experiences. However, poorly managed ecotourism can still cause habitat disturbance and resource strain. Effective ecotourism requires careful planning, regulation, community participation, and environmental monitoring. When sustainably implemented, ecotourism contributes to conservation efforts, local livelihoods, climate resilience, and long-term environmental and human health benefits.
