Health Disparities refer to differences in health outcomes, disease burden, and access to healthcare services among specific population groups. These disparities are often linked to social, economic, environmental, and structural factors such as income, education, race, gender, geography, disability, and social exclusion. In public health, health disparities are considered preventable and unjust, as they disproportionately affect marginalized and vulnerable communities. Examples include higher rates of chronic diseases, maternal mortality, infectious diseases, and reduced life expectancy in disadvantaged populations. Addressing health disparities requires targeted public health interventions, inclusive policies, improved access to quality healthcare, and action on social determinants of health. Community engagement, culturally appropriate services, and data-driven strategies are essential. Reducing health disparities improves population health, promotes social justice, and strengthens health system equity by ensuring that all individuals have fair opportunities to achieve optimal health.
