Health Psychology and Psychiatry focus on the interaction between mental health, behavior, and physical wellbeing. Health psychology examines how psychological, behavioral, and social factors influence health, illness, and healthcare behaviors such as adherence to treatment, lifestyle choices, and coping with chronic disease. Psychiatry focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders through clinical, therapeutic, and pharmacological approaches. In public health, both disciplines play a key role in mental health promotion, prevention of mental illness, and reduction of stigma. They contribute to addressing conditions such as depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and stress-related illnesses. Integrating health psychology and psychiatry into public health systems supports holistic, person-centered care. These fields also inform behavioral interventions, community mental health programs, and policy development, ultimately improving quality of life, productivity, and overall population health.
