Human, animal and environmental health

Human, animal and environmental health

Human, animal, and environmental health are deeply interconnected, forming the foundation of the One Health approach in public health. Human health is influenced by interactions with animals through agriculture, wildlife contact, and companion animals, while environmental factors such as climate change, water quality, and ecosystem disruption shape disease emergence and transmission. Many zoonotic diseases arise at this interface, highlighting the need for integrated surveillance and coordinated prevention strategies. Protecting animal health improves food safety and livelihoods, while preserving environmental health reduces exposure to infectious agents and harmful pollutants. Collaborative efforts across medical, veterinary, and environmental sectors strengthen early detection, outbreak response, and sustainable health systems.
