Obesity and Chronic Diseases represent a major global public health challenge, contributing significantly to morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Obesity is a complex condition influenced by genetic, behavioral, environmental, and socioeconomic factors, including unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, urbanization, and limited access to nutritious foods. Excess body weight is a key risk factor for many chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke, certain cancers, and musculoskeletal disorders. In public health, obesity increases the burden of long-term illness and reduces quality of life and life expectancy. Effective prevention and control strategies focus on promoting healthy eating, regular physical activity, supportive food environments, and early-life interventions. Policy measures—such as regulating unhealthy food marketing, improving urban design, and strengthening primary care—are also essential. Addressing obesity and chronic diseases requires a multisectoral, equity-focused approach to create healthier environments and support sustainable behavior change across populations.
