Occupational Health and Safety Experts
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Experts work to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and hazards that can affect workers’ health and productivity. They assess physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial risks across different industries and develop strategies to reduce exposure. In public health, OHS experts contribute to disease prevention by promoting safe work environments, compliance with safety regulations, and health promotion in the workplace. Their responsibilities include risk assessments, safety training, incident investigation, and development of occupational health policies. OHS experts collaborate with employers, workers, healthcare professionals, and regulators to implement preventive measures. Protecting vulnerable and high-risk worker groups is a key focus. By reducing occupational injuries and diseases, occupational health and safety experts support worker wellbeing, improve productivity, lower healthcare costs, and strengthen overall public health outcomes.
