Oro-Dental Trauma
Oro-Dental Trauma refers to injuries affecting the teeth, gums, lips, tongue, jaw, and surrounding oral tissues. These injuries commonly result from falls, road traffic accidents, sports activities, physical violence, or workplace incidents. Oro-dental trauma can range from minor tooth chips and soft tissue cuts to severe conditions such as tooth avulsion, jaw fractures, and damage to supporting bone structures. Such injuries can cause pain, bleeding, difficulty in eating or speaking, and long-term aesthetic and functional problems if not treated promptly. Children, adolescents, and athletes are particularly at higher risk. Immediate first aid and timely dental care are critical for improving outcomes and saving damaged teeth. Prevention strategies include use of mouthguards during sports, road safety measures, and creating safe play environments. Public health efforts focus on injury prevention, awareness, and access to emergency dental services to reduce complications and long-term oral health impact.
