Plasma Therapy
Plasma Therapy, also known as convalescent plasma therapy, is a medical treatment that uses plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from a specific infectious disease. This plasma contains antibodies that can help fight the infection in patients who are currently ill. Plasma therapy has been used in the management of diseases such as COVID-19, Ebola, and other viral infections, particularly during outbreaks when specific treatments or vaccines are limited. The therapy works by providing passive immunity, helping reduce disease severity and improve recovery in some patients. Plasma is carefully screened, processed, and matched before transfusion to ensure safety. While plasma therapy shows potential benefits, its effectiveness varies depending on timing, antibody levels, and patient condition. Ongoing research and clinical trials are essential to establish standardized guidelines and determine its role in future infectious disease treatment and emergency response.
