Precision Medicine

Precision Medicine

Precision medicine is an innovative approach to healthcare that customizes prevention, diagnosis, and treatment based on individual genetic, biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Unlike traditional one-size-fits-all treatments, precision medicine uses genomic data, biomarkers, and advanced analytics to guide personalized care. It has shown significant promise in areas such as cancer therapy, rare diseases, cardiovascular care, and pharmacogenomics. From a public health perspective, precision medicine can improve treatment effectiveness, reduce adverse drug reactions, and optimize resource use. However, challenges include data privacy, ethical concerns, cost, and equitable access. Integrating precision medicine into healthcare systems requires strong infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and workforce training. When responsibly implemented, precision medicine advances patient-centered care and improves health outcomes.
